Careless garbage dumping a threat to children

When people are carelessly dumping garbage, children are the most vulnerable to diseases such as Cholera.
A cholera outbreak in 2008 killed more than 4,000 people across the country, forcing the government to declare a national emergency and appeal for international aid.Uncollected garbage and littering have become an epidemic blighting Zimbabwe’s cities, including the capital Harare, paradoxically known as the Sunshine City.

Once esteemed for its orderliness and cleanliness, Harare’s sparkle has all but vanished under the lofty shadows of piling rubble and refuse. And now one man is taking matters into his hands, calling on government to designate a national cleaning day, and urging members of the public to clean up their environs.

UNICEF is assisting children who are stayinfg on garbage sites in some countries.Adults and children risk their lives every day scavenging the dump for the quantities of recyclable materials needed to make a living. The work is extremely dangerous. They are at risk of diseases such as respiratory infections, pneumonia, diarrhoea and tuberculosis. The dump itself is unstable and parts of it can collapse in heavy rain, burying workers and their homes beneath the garbage.

Industrialistion- a threat the evironment

Northern American countries who industiralised early started burning large amounts of fossil fuel and these emmissions accumulated in the atmosphere causing global warming.
Now the earth is becoming hotter. There are climatic changes that are affecting Agrarian economies in the Southern African region especially Zimbabwe whose economy is collapsing.

This is resulting to an inceased poverty in such countries that depended on farrmig. crops are withered and Zimbabwe has turned from a bread basket to a begging basket.
Measures have to be taken to ensure that  there is sustataible development of the envioronment
